August emphasizes your own personal power, finances, ambitions, and your ability to salvage what you want to keep in your life. Your confidence is being challenged and, if you feel hurt, angry or defeated, it is because you are experiencing the results – the return – on something you invested into without fully considering the long-term effect or, perhaps, the need for a more sustained effort on your part.
August marks the end of that era in which you succumbed to unrealistic expectations of yourself and others. You will benefit greatly once you are able to pick yourself up, feel how empowered you have actually become through this experience, and efficiently wrap up the loose ends of a phase of your life that is now well and truly over.

The new beginnings you crave cannot happen until the necessary endings and completions have occurred. This month, money may come in and important agreements may be finalized. You will receive what is due but may still feel disappointed – until you experience the sheer relief of letting go of something that was hurting you in some way.
You are not defeated at all. You are simply realizing that one particular direction has run its course. In fact, you now want more out of life – much more! Of course, you are the only one who can make it happen.

Give yourself time to figure out what you really want. Ask yourself how much of the “old you” was created out of fear of loss; a need for position or status; to give the appearance of happiness and success while, all the time, your real desires, potentials, and perhaps reality itself, were being denied because you needed the approval or reassurance of others.

Appreciate what you already have in terms of love, support, talent, desire, resources, and a willingness to learn new things.

Be determined to live more freely and openly. It is from an acceptance of where you are today that you will be able to create a new tomorrow of your own design. By absorbing the knowledge that August provides, you will have every reason to feel confident again. But do remember that knowledge is power only when it is correctly understood.

In a Business world, when a business owner finds him/herself in crisis, we can explore the transits of the five outer planets to both define the crisis and to design the solution out of the crisis. In my last article on “What zest your business crisis & its resolution in 2010”, I wrote some outline about the types of crises you are likely to experience when under the influence of each planetary energy.

“The Acceleration Trap” - describes a situation when a business takes on more than it can handle. Often sparked by an exceptional disintegrate of opportunities, the company increases activities and exceeds prior performance but doesn’t know when to stop. If the activity level turns into chronic overloading, employees’ motivation will flag and the company’s focus will be scattered in various directions. This can confuse customers, threaten your brand, and lead to burn-out, exhaustion, and resignation (maybe even yours.) And that sounds like a Jupiter crisis!

In my previous article, I described a Jupiter crisis this way: a Jupiter transit indicates a business crisis caused by too many opportunities. Risk-taking could be leading to overexpansion. The focus has become too scattered and lack of follow-through causes projects to be invested in and then dropped before completion. There can be lack of judgment on the part of the owners and extravagance and dissipation of resources.

There are three patterns that can come into sight from this situation:

1. Employees are overloaded with too many activities. This is when workers don’t have the time or the resources required to do their jobs.

2. Companies ask employees to do too many kinds of activities, what the authors call “multiloading.” This leads to workers being unfocused and activities misaligned.

3. Companies get into the habit of constant change, or perpetual loading. This deprives workers of any hope of recharging their energy.

Of course in a micro-business with only the owner, or the owner with one or two employees, these patterns can certainly emerge too.

The Solution for company  to break out of the acceleration trap:

Here in this situation, you have to fight fire with fire. If, due to the horoscope/chart of the company or the owner, there have been and continue to be a string of Jupiter transits, then the energy that led to the situation must be called upon for the solution.

Here are some suggestions and modified according to what we know about Jupiter:

1. Ask your employees for ideas about what to stop. As employees bring their wisdom to the situation and enjoy the trust you place in them to resolve the crisis, it brings the best of Jupiter to bear.

2. Make sure you have defined a long-term strategy, that everyone in the organization knows what it is, and that every project supports that strategy. Jupiter is the king of looking ahead and planning for the future.

3. Have a way to make hard choices. Ask each manager (or yourself), what is the single project you want to complete above all others? Setting one supreme goal brings out the Jupiter spirit in people.

4. Call an end to eternal turmoil. Declare it over. Jupiter understands the power of words and proclamations to shape the present moment and the future.

5. Create a ceremony to acknowledge what is stopping. People have invested time and energy into projects you may be halting. Gather people together to formally acknowledge the end of a project so that everyone can grieve and let it go.

6. Work to change the company culture. Slow down. Relax. Indulge. Institute regular time-outs and be sure to stick to them. No one likes fun more than Jupiter.

Google has bought Jambool, a company that makes a platform for managing online payments for virtual goods sold on gaming and social networking sites.

Jambool made the announcement on Friday on its Web site. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company develops Social Gold, which can be used for managing virtual currency or processing payments within applications for websites such as Facebook.

In a statement, Google said “we are committed to offering consumers and merchants innovative digital payment solutions, and Jambool will help Google evolve our payments offering and expand into digital goods and content.”

The Social Gold platform was launched in 2008, and Jambool wrote that they processed more than double the payment value in the first half of 2010 than they did in all of 2009.

“We’ve welcomed hundreds of developers to our platform,” according to the post. “The fact that our highest revenue day was in the last week attests to the continued growth of online gaming.”

The company says it has the only platform with an API (application programming interface) that can manage purchases done in a Flash-based game during game play and even for first-time users who do not have their details yet on record. Jambool charges 10 percent per transaction, but that fee goes down to 7 percent if a client is processing at least US$25,000 per month.

Jambool said Social Gold is PCI (Payment Card Industry) Security Standards Council Level 1 compliant, the highest rating. The company said it uses a “combination of algorithmic detection, analytics and human verification to control and manage fraud.”

Jambool published a set of questions and answers for its customers about how they may be affected by the acquisition.

“We are thrilled to be part of Google, and we look forward to the exciting road ahead,” the company said.

Tata Steel will increase its manufacturing capacity in the country three-fold by 2012 to 21 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from the current 7 million tonnes. “After completion of the 3 million tonnes expansion project at Jamshedpur, the company’s steel manufacturing capacity in Indian operations

will enhance to 10 MTPA by 2012,” said Ratan Tata, chairman, Tata Steel, at the recently-concluded annual general meeting of Tata Steel.

The company plans to invest R4,500 crore this fiscal followed by R7,000 crore in 2011-12 for various projects.
